The tall and lanky all-rounder, who is considered to have a good CV in the limited-overs format, has been plying his trade in various T20 leagues.  Morris burst onto the scene in the 2013 Champions Trophy; and made his International debut against Pakistan in Birmingham.

A hit the deck bowler, ability to strike some hefty blows and dynamite on the field, Chris Morris makes for a perfect all-rounder, tailor-made for the limited-overs format. Given that the all-rounders are the most sought-after property in T20 cricket, Chris Morris has always garnered attention from multiple franchises across the globe.

Opta Stats

  • Chris Morris holds the record for the most economical spell bowled in a T20 game. The all-rounder finished with outstanding figures of 4-3-2-2 against Cape Cobras in 2013 edition of Ram Slam T20 league.
  • 422.2 – In 2017, Chris Morris etched his name in the record books of IPL. With a strike rate of 422.2, Chris Morris holds the record for the highest strike rate in an innings in IPL.
  • 1284 balls (214 overs) – Chris Morris has been a regular feature of multiple franchises over the years in the IPL. He has bowled a total of 214 overs with a bowling strike rate of 18.88 and fetching 68 wickets.

The Proteas All-Rounder, Proved His All-Round Credentials For Sydney Thunders In BBL

The Proteas all-rounder turned out for the Sydney Thunder in the recently concluded BBL tournament. The all-rounder played a prominent role in Sydney Thunder’s qualification to the playoffs stage. With 22 wickets in just 15 games, Chris Morris was the second-highest wicket-taker of the tournament. His death bowling skills were put to test and the latter responded to it brilliantly by displaying a variety of skills.

Following a successful BBL campaign, Chris Morris was acquired by Royal Challengers Bangalore for a sum of INR 10 crores. Given his deftness with the ball and the proficiency to score runs at a fair clip, Chris Morris will look to repay the faith imposed on him by the franchise. His performance for RCB could possibly mark his return to the South African roster.
