Ashley Giles, Ian Bell, Jonathan Trott, Chris Woakes and Moeen Ali – Birmingham has generated the best cricket production line in England.

At a very young age, Moeen Ali was hooked to the game. At the age of 15, he signed up for Warwickshire and slowly laddered up the ranks. On the back of stellar performances for Warwickshire, Moeen Ali was appointed as the captain of England U-19 side for the U-19 World Cup.

In 2013, he strung together a number of impressive scores in Division 2. The all-rounder racked up 1375 runs at an impressive average of 62 and also picked up 28 wickets.

In 2014, Moeen Ali burst onto the international scene in the ODI series against West Indies. An ability to bat at any position coupled with his accurate bowling, Moeen Ali has been the most sought-after all-rounder in all the three formats for the English side.

Numbers That Matter

  • 212 – The English all-rounder has played 212 matches for England across all formats.
  • 20 – The Southpaw has scored 20 centuries in first-class cricket.
  • 66(28) – In 2019, Moeen Ali recorded his best batting performance against Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL. Moeen’s all-round heroics were instrumental in leading RCB to a victory.
  • 131.48 – The Birmingham-born all-rounder has a strike rate of 131.48 in the T20Is.
  • 7.80 – Moeen Ali has operated with an overall economy rate of 7.80 at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in the IPL.

After a triumphant run in the World Cup, the all-rounder decided to take a break from cricket. However, Moeen Ali started to ply his trade in various T20 leagues across the globe. Moeen Ali accumulated 356 runs in 7 matches in the T20 Blast, backed by 11 wickets – his 121-run knock in the semi-final was a testament to his big-game temperament.

In 2018, Royal Challengers Bangalore acquired the services of the ace all-rounder for a sum of 1.70 crores. The English all-rounder’s exemplary 66-run knock against Kolkata Knight Riders provided a glimpse of his prowess in the limited-overs format. The inclusion of Moeen Ali in the line-up marks the proliferation of all-rounders in RCB’s squad. With his all-round credentials, he remains to be an indispensable part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore side.
