The ownership rights in the 7th round of the Shpageeza Cricket League have been awarded to five companies namely Speenghar Tigers to Afghanistan Coal Traders Union (ACTU), Kabul Eagles to Ayubi Sports Complex (ASC), Amo Sharks to Naveed Ahmadzai Money Exchange Services (NAMES), Band-e-Amir to Daily Fresh Company (DFC) and Mis-e-Ainak to Hazrat Trading Company (HCL).
The ownership rights in the 7th round of the Shpageeza Cricket League have been awarded to five companies namely Speenghar Tigers to Afghanistan Coal Traders Union (ACTU), Kabul Eagles to Ayubi Sports Complex (ASC), Amo Sharks to Naveed Ahmadzai Money Exchange Services (NAMES), Band-e-Amir to Daily Fresh Company (DFC) and Mis-e-Ainak to Hazrat Trading Company (HCL).
This meeting was held at the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) Head office between ACB’s acting CEO Mr. Nazeem Jar Abdul Rahimzai, and the franchisees of the five teams of the Shpageeza Cricket League. The contract was signed by their representatives Mr. Shams-ur-Rahman, Mr. Abdul Latif Ayubi, Mr. Haji Zalmai Zadran, Mr. Waheed Afghan and Naveed Ahmadzai representing ACTU, ASC, HCL, DFC and NAMES respectively.
Mr. Abdul Rahimzai ddressed the meeting and he referred to SCL being the largest league in the field of domestic cricket which has helped ACB find genuine hidden talents in Afghanistan and hoped it will continue to serve the same purpose among others.
Mr. Abdul Rahimzai said: “I would like to thank the owners of all the companies who came and invested in acquiring the ownership of the teams. I assure them of all kinds of cooperation and assistance from our side. We will provide all possible facilities.”
He added: “The market has been hit hard by Corona this year and there has been a continuous demand from the owners of the companies to only waive team fees for this year so that this is like a goodwill gift from our side which should encourage them even more.”
Mr. Shams-ur-Rehman Shams and Mr. Haji Zalmai Zadran spoke on behalf of the franchise owners of the two teams who said cricket has been a game in Afghanistan that has brought a smile on the faces of the people and that they would continue to support cricket and invest in more opportunities.
They also called on other national businessmen and investors not to spare any support on the development and growth of cricket and to make the most of the various opportunities available at ACB.
The franchise contract with 5 out 6 teams of Shpageeza Cricket League has been signed which leaves Boost Defenders being the only one left.
The 7th round of the Shpageeza Cricket League will be played in September and will be televised live on RTA sports.
