The Brisbane Heat have applauded the support of their staunchest fans with more than 1000 members renewing their affiliation with the club for the coming summer.
The first week of Membership renewals featured a flood of support for the Heat, with the club revamping and expanding its offerings to existing and potential members in light of changes brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Heat’s membership motto of ‘Don’t Miss A Moment’ will ring true this summer, with members offered first access and 20 per cent off BBL tickets for matches in Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Heat members will also receive exclusive benefits such as 20 percent off club merchandise, 80 percent off a Kayo Sports subscription to ensure they catch every ball of the BBL and WBBL, and inner-sanctum team experiences and events.
Heat Commercial and Marketing Manager Pete Lock said the club was buoyed by the early swell of support.
“We were very gratified by the early response of our members who wanted to renew and thank them for backing us,’’ he said.
“Things haven’t been easy for a lot of people this year so we’re humbled by the support that has been shown for us in the lead-in to our 10th season in the BBL.
“Now more than ever, the BBL will play an important role for Heat members, fans and supporters who are coming together for the summer holidays to enjoy some fun and excitement, which we know we will deliver.
“We know our members want inner-sanctum style experiences, and we are excited to offer opportunities to stay connected to our squads such as member-only events and virtual Q&As sessions with our WBBL and BBL squads throughout summer.”
The WBBL Brisbane Heat will step up their preparations for this month’s rebel Women’s Big Bash League with international stars Amelia Kerr and Maddy Green linking up with the squad next week.
The New Zealand duo will enjoy a few days break following yesterday’s conclusion of the landmark T20I and ODI series between Australia and the White Ferns in Brisbane, the first international sporting series to be held in Australia since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
They are set to resume their WBBL campaign on Tuesday next week when the Heat play two T20 practice games at Peter Burge Oval at Wellington Point.
The pair were key contributors last season for Brisbane when the Heat completed back-to-back championship titles for the first time in the club’s history.
Following the practice matches, they will also turn out for Premier Clubs in the Katherine Raymont Shield competition next week.
Green will join her NZ teammate Hayley Jensen in the Sunshine Coast Scorchers squad. The Scorchers are in their first season in the Katherine Raymont Shield after being promoted from the Jodie Fields Shield Second Grade competition.
Kerr, who proved a match-winner for NZ in the final game of the T20 series last week, will play with the Wynnum-Manly/Redlands team which is in their second season in the top grade.
South African allrounder Nadine de Klerk is currently in quarantine in Adelaide along with other international players and will join the Heat once she has completed the mandatory requirement.
New pace bowling signing Nicola Hancock, formerly with the Melbourne Stars, will also link with Ipswich/Logan for next week’s round of the Katherine Raymont Shield.
The Heat will play a Premier Cricket/Pathways Invitational XI on Tuesday that includes Heat contracted players Charli Knott, Georgia Voll and Lilly Mills and Queensland Fire squad players Meagan Dixon, Tess Cooper, Caitlin Mair and Ellie Johnston.
Bundaberg 14-year-old pace bowler Lucy Hamilton, who plays for the Sunshine Coast, will also get the opportunity to test herself in the practice games.
Knott will captain the team for the first game while Ipswich/Logan batter Ellie Johnston will lead the team in the second match.
