A superb innings of 96 from 104 balls by Thunder’s WBBL captain Rachael Haynes has earned her the Player of the Match and Player of the One-Day Series awards against New Zealand.

Deputising as captain for the injured Meg Lanning, Haynes hit 10 fours and two sixes helping Australia to a 232-run win at Allan Border Field, Brisbane, securing a three-nil series victory. The left-handed opener finished the three-match series with 222 runs at an average of 74.

The victory was the 21st successive One-Day International victory for the Australian Women’s Cricket Team setting a new world record for consecutive wins at that level.

Opening the batting with Alyssa Healy (87), Haynes shared a 144-run partnership in a massive total of 5/325. New Zealand was bowled out for 93.

Haynes’ innings followed 82 from 89 balls on Monday during Australia’s four-wicket win that claimed the Rose Bowl. All three One-Day and three T20 Internationals were played at AB Field.

Sydney Thunder begin their WBBL|06 campaign on October 25 in the Sydney Smash against the Sixers.
