Rachael Haynes and Rachel Trenaman impressive in trial win

Sydney Thunder defeated the Sydney Sixers by eight wickets on Thursday night in their first trial ahead of the upcoming Rebel Women’s Big Bash League season.

Captain Rachael Haynes continued the good form she has shown in recent weeks at international level with a solid knock of 44 not out from 42 balls at North Sydney Oval.

Haynes was named Player of the Series across the three One-Day matches against New Zealand, in Brisbane, scoring 222 runs at an average of 74.

Rachel Trenaman made 41 from 51 at the top of the order and also picked up two wickets with her leg-spin returning 2-11 from four overs.

Other multiple wicket takers were new recruit off-spinner Lauren Smith (2-17) and Alex Blackwell Medallist Hannah Darlington (2-25).

Thunder are set to open take on the Sixers in their first match of WBBL|06 on Sunday 25 October at North Sydney Oval.
