Sydney Thunder: Capital Warriors win ACT HomeWorld Thunder Nation Cup

More than 150 cricketers involved

Lyneham Ovals Complex in Canberra played host to a record 15 teams and 27 matches for the fourth ACT HomeWorld Thunder Nation Cup on Sunday.

Sunday marked the official start of this season’s Thunder Nation Cup. The tournament celebrates the rich cultural diversity of the Thunder Nation through cricket.

Capital Warriors defeated PK XI by 22 runs in the Final.

The 15 teams represented nations from across the subcontinent and South Asia, including India, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh. It provides an opportunity for many passionate cricket lovers to connect with their culture and meet like-minded people.

The Thunder Nation Cup will continue in the New Year with dates and locations yet to be confirmed.

Thunder’s BBL team will take on the Perth Scorchers in its third of five matches at Canberra’s Manuka Oval on Tuesday night. 

The Thunder Nation acknowledges and thanks Homeworld for its support of the Thunder Nation Cup.

Group A Winner – Canberra Spartans

Group B Winner – Capital Warriors

Group C Winner – PK XI

Group D Winner – Stallions

Semi Final 1 – Canberra Spartans 73 def by PK XI 91

Semi Final 2 – Stallions 79 def by Capital Warriors 1/81

Final – Capital Warriors 2/78 def PK XI 6/56
