Islamabad United, the most successful franchise in HBL PSL history and the winner of the first and third edition of the tournament, is inviting Data Scientists and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Experts to bring further innovation in the sport of cricket itself or in its analysis.
Islamabad United is continuing its #UnitedWeTech initiative from last season. We believe in a progressive Pakistan that leads the way in tech-innovations & ideas.
Since its inception in 2016, apart from focusing on cricket, AAN-Leonine – the proud owner of Islamabad United – has focused on utilizing the popularity of cricket to bring positive social, cultural and economic change to Pakistan through various initiatives. It was the first team to use data analysis (‘money balling’) extensively in PSL (since Season One) to bring more objectivity as well as sophisticated techniques used in other sports.
The accelerated pace of technological innovation continues to disrupt every sector, and Islamabad United wants to make sure that cricket (and other sports) in Pakistan not only catches up but also leads technology driven innovation.
As such, we are today inviting proposals from technology experts which could make the sport, its viewing experience and/or its analysis more sophisticated and aligned to technological advancements specially in the field of Data Science and AI.
This is an open call and encourages ‘out-of-box’ thinking specially from experts who are applying AI driven algorithms for better decision making in other sports and/or in other sectors.
Ideally you (or the team/firm) are:
- a sports/cricket enthusiast
- have extensive domain knowledge in Data Science and its application (in any sector)
- passionate about making an impact in sports
- passionate about contributing positively to Pakistan
- based anywhere in the world
- can create something tangible in the next 8 weeks which could be used / showcased in PSL6
The chosen product/s and the respective persons/firms:
- will be recognized by Islamabad United
- will be provided ISLU’s extensive marketing platform for introducing the products / team
- products will be used by Islamabad United team in PSL6, if practically possible
- will be potentially introduced to Sports bodies in the country and elsewhere for potential adoption/usage
- will be introduced to potential investors, if applicable
