Queensland Cricket has welcomed confirmation that the Fourth Vodafone Test match will be played as scheduled at the Gabba from Friday.

QC CEO Terry Svenson said the outcome was welcome news for local fans and stakeholders.

“We would like to congratulate all involved for their hard work and co-operation to deliver this result,’’ he said.

“Cricket Australia, the Board of Control of Cricket in India, Queensland Health and Queensland Government and Stadiums Queensland have all collaborated extensively to work through the many complex issues presented, and arrive at a very positive outcome for everyone.”

“We look forward to welcoming the Indian and Australian teams later this week as they prepare for the final Test of what has been a competitive and exciting series.”

Svenson said QC endorsed the advice of Queensland Health and the Queensland Government to cap the crowd capacity for the Test at 50% percent of capacity.

“While capacity will be reduced, there will still be ample opportunity for fans to enjoy the Test match. We encourage them to observe the recent protocols outlined today by Queensland Health, wear a facemask and get along to the Gabba,” he said.

In order to deliver a socially distanced seating plan at the Gabba, the match will now be re-ticketed and current ticket holders will receive a full refund, including all associated costs such as ticket insurance.

Current ticket holders will again be given an exclusive window to repurchase tickets via Ticketek from 3pm AEST on Wednesday January 13 through to 9am AEST on Thursday January 14, with all remaining tickets released thereafter.

The match will get underway on Friday from 10am local time.
