A number of changes have been made to the Ireland Wolves travelling party for their forthcoming tour to Bangladesh where they will play a multi-format eight-match series against Bangladesh A.

The key changes are that Head Coach Pete Johnston and George Dockrell have chosen not to opt in to the tour. Graham Ford and Stuart Barnes will now oversee the whole tour from a coaching perspective, and a replacement player will be announced shortly.

Andrew White, Chair of National Men’s Selectors, said:

“We completely respect the decision of George not to opt in, and fully understand Pete’s decisions based around family circumstances. The playing and coaching group have been busy preparing for the trip in line with COVID protocols, and we look forward to a competitive month of cricket ahead.”

“We expect to be in a position to announce a replacement for George shortly.”

“One name that was missing from discussions on selection for this tour was David Delany. As fans know, David withdrew from the recent UAE tour after suffering knee pain after a warm-up game. Being the same knee he injured at the 2019 T20 World Cup Qualifier, our medical staff have been very cautious. A scan of his knee back in Dublin revealed a further but minor tear of the lateral meniscus, and was subsequently repaired surgically. David has been undergoing rehab and is doing very well, but was not considered for this tour – instead he will continue rehab and preparation for the forthcoming home season.”

The tour

The tour is scheduled from 17 February to 19 March 2021, and the fixtures will be:
