Team Pakistan looking to defend HomeWorld Thunder Nation Cup title

A record number of participants turned out for the Pakistan community trials at Blacktown International Sportspark on Sunday night.

More than 40 cricketers took part in the trials, with a team of eleven players eventually selected to represent Pakistan at the upcoming HomeWorld Thunder Nation Cup.

Basit Ali is looking forward to representing his community for the second time, after helping Pakistan win the HomeWorld Thunder Nation Cup title last year.

“Being a part of the Pakistani team last year and doing our country proud, it was such an honour,” said Ali.

“When I came to Australia six years ago, I never thought I would get an opportunity to represent my country in any way, but the HomeWorld Thunder Nation Cup made that happen and I couldn’t be thankful enough.

“It’s a proud moment to represent my country.”

Meanwhile, Zain Ali Mahavia is excited to represent Pakistan for the first time.

“It’s a great pleasure and I am really happy to be a part of it. I can’t express my feelings for being selected in the Pakistan team,” said Mahavia.

“This is my first season for the HomeWorld Thunder Nation Cup and it’s a great opportunity to show my skills.

“I am really excited about it and I want to perform as good as for my team and take it to finals and win it.”

Pakistani community’s 2021 HomeWorld Thunder Nation Cup squad is:

Zain Kahn
