Cricket South Africa (CSA) has congratulated one of its senior umpires, Murray Brown, on becoming its second match official to stand in 150 first-class matches.

He achieved this notable landmark when he took the field on the opening day of the CSA Provincial three-day match between North West and the Central Gauteng Lions at the NWU Oval in Potchefstroom this morning.

He follows in the footsteps of former international umpire, Rudi Koertzen, who stood in 220 matches.

“Congratulations to Murray on reaching this milestone,” commented CSA Acting Chief Executive Pholetsi Moseki. “It reflects the professionalism and dedication he has brought to the game of cricket over a long period of time. It means he has been one of the men in the middle for well over 1000 hours of game time, often in extremely testing climatic conditions.

“Our match officials bear comparison with the best in the world and make an important contribution to developing South African cricket at all levels,” he concluded.
