THE CARAVEL FOUNDATION BACKS CRICKET PATHWAY AND DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS FOR HONG KONG YOUTH

Cricket Hong Kong (CHK) and The Caravel Foundation are delighted to announce a three-year partnership with the aim of fostering Hong Kong’s future cricket talent. The partnership supports a newly launched Youth Pathway Program and Cricket Hong Kong’s School Cricket Initiative.

The Cricket Hong Kong Youth Pathway Programme’s objective is to develop a constant stream of local, representative, and international cricketers through an aligned and consistent skill development pathway.

The program consists of a compressed trials and an assessment programme for both Under 13 and Under 16 age groups culminating in three teams being selected at each age group to play in the youth All Stars Tournament. Following the tournament each squad will take part in a skill development programme in the off-season.

The development programme provides the platform for players to be selected in the Hong Kong Under 16 and Hong Kong Under 19 squads.

Rahul Sharma, CHK Board member and Director of Cricket said, “The support provided by The Caravel Foundation allows us to really maximize the potential of this program and ensure our young cricketers get the much-needed high quality cricket experience they need to continue their development into future Hong Kong International Cricketers.”

Another major aspect of the partnership between The Carvel Foundation and CHK is the focus on Cricket in Schools. The support will enable CHK to engage more local primary schools in Hong Kong and give them the opportunity to see and experience cricket and play matches in playgrounds between different schools.

Indra Banga, Director of The Caravel foundation said, “We are delighted to partner with Cricket Hong Kong and support their mission to make cricket accessible to children and youth in Hong Kong. This partnership aligns perfectly with the Foundation’s focus on children’s health and education, and on creating opportunities for young people. It gives us a great sense of pride knowing that our support will have a role in fostering the future cricket talent for Hong Kong.”

The first event under this partnership is the U16 All Star Series. Assessments and trials were held in May and June and three squads have been selected to play in the under 16 All Stars Series to be held on the 19th, 26th and 27th June.
