Experienced seamer Peter Siddle has extended his stay at the Adelaide Strikers, with a further one-year deal confirmed today.

Siddle has been a key member of Adelaide’s bowling attack since he joined in 2017, and he has rocketed to fourth on the Strikers’ alltime wicket-taking charts with 55 from 44 outings, and a healthy economy of 7.02.

He took career-best figures of 5/16 in KFC BBL|10 against Hobart Hurricanes in Launceston, which saw a dominant Strikers win.

The move to Adelaide ahead of BBL|07 helped rejuvenate the veteran Test bowler at the time, with a new bag of Twenty20 tricks that immediately led his team to their maiden Championship.

Siddle took 3/17 in the Final against the Hurricanes Adelaide Oval which iced the game for the home side.

The 36-year-old said there was no place he’d rather be as the BBL|11 fixture is confirmed today.

“I’m absolutely delighted to be back in the blue and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with this close-knit group and out in front of the amazing Strikers fans since I started here,” Siddle said.

“You can’t speak about the Big Bash without Adelaide’s New Year’s Eve game, which is the best fixture in the competition and one I am lucky enough to stay involved in, and one of the greatest I have played in world cricket.

“Adelaide Oval has been such a special ground to me throughout my entire career, and the noise that the crowd makes especially on New Year’s night and even just a regular season match, is an experience that keeps me here and spurs me on.

“The Strikers have always had an exciting, talented list, and as that continues to build for the coming season, I’m confident and we believe we can be up there challenging for the title once again after our BBL|10 ended early.”
