ODI Captain to rest and rehabilitate painful knee

Bangladesh ODI Captain Tamim Iqbal will miss the three-match Twenty20 series against Zimbabwe starting Thursday as he will return home to begin a rehabilitation programme for a right knee ligament injury. Tamim has been suffering from knee pain for the past weeks and had missed the only Test against the home side in Harare before playing all the three matches of the ODI series which Bangladesh won 3-0.

With the ongoing nature of knee pain that Tamim has been experiencing during the tour of Zimbabwe, it has been recommended by the BCB medical team to rest him from competitive cricket for the next six to eight weeks to avoid further aggravation and allow the ligament in his knee to recover and also for him to rehab more effectively.
