Australian all-rounder, Nicola Carey, is the latest player to re-commit to the Hobart Hurricanes for WBBL|07, re-signing on a new two-year deal.

WBBL|07 will mark Carey’s third season in purple, and she will be looking to build on a solid personal performance from WBBL|06, where she was a finalist for the Hurricanes WBBL Player of the Tournament award.

Cementing her status as a genuine all-rounder, in WBBL|06 Carey finished as the Hurricanes second-highest wicket-taker (a total of 11 to her name, with best figures of 3-14) and third-highest run-scorer, amassing 158 runs over 10 innings.  She was also vital in the field, with seven catches to her name.

Carey said she was looking forward to seeing what the Hurricanes could achieve on-field in the upcoming season.

“As a team, we were disappointed with our overall performance last season, so we’re definitely keen to improve on that this year.

“However, there were still some great moments and individual performances last year, so building on that, along with the work we’ve been doing in the off-season and the people we’ve recruited, we really just can’t wait for the season to start and get out there and show what we can do.”

Carey joins Maisy Gibson, Rachel Priest, Chloe Rafferty, Amy Smith, Naomi Stalenberg, Molly Strano, Belinda Vakarewa and Tayla Vlaeminck as the players announced as being contracted to the Hurricanes for WBBL|07.
