The West Indies Rising Stars U19s will start with confidence when they face England Under-19s in the first Youth One-Day International. The opening encounter is on Saturday the County Ground in Beckenham. First ball is 10:30am (5:30am Eastern Caribbean Time/4:30am Jamaica Time).

West Indies 18-member squad arrived in England earlier this week after a High Performance Camp in Antigua. They had several intense training sessions at the base in Beckenham as they put all systems in place for this six-match series.

Rohan Nurse, the Acting Head Coach, said he is extremely pleased with the preparations and the level of focus displayed by the players in somewhat unfamiliar conditions. He was speaking to CWI Media after Thursday’s morning training session.

“Training has been excellent. I am quite pleased with the progress the players have made since the first day of training when we arrived here. They have been quite Willi willing and able to adapt to the new conditions they have been experiencing,” Nurse said.

“The mood is very upbeat … they are very excited. They are really looking forward to testing their skills against the English opposition and also in the English conditions.”
