Cricket Australia has today confirmed an adjustment to the start of the Weber WBBL|07 season, with the first 20 matches of the tournament to be played in Tasmania.Originally scheduled to start in Sydney, the Scorchers will now begin their campaign with matches across Hobart and Launceston before returning to Perth to play in front of Members and fans.

Changes to the published schedule have been made in response to public health conditions, state border restrictions and their related impacts.

Four Scorchers matches have been revised, with Perth’s opening double header against the Brisbane Heat re-scheduled for Sunday 17 and Tuesday 19 October at Blundstone Arena.

Matches scheduled for the WACA Ground the following weekend have moved to the University of Tasmania Stadium in Launceston.

The Scorchers will then fly home and prepare for the fan-favourite WBBL Festival Weekend at Lilac Hill on Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 October.

Perth supporters will still have ample opportunity to watch their team in action, with all revised Scorchers matches to be broadcast across Foxtel (four) and Seven (three).

Perth Scorchers General Manager – Commercial, Marketing & Communications Shay Nasta said;

“We are understanding of the scheduling challenges that have been presented and are committed to working with the League to deliver a safe and successful WBBL tournament.

“We will continue to work with the League and the WA Government on the potential to host more matches in Perth following the Lilac Hill weekend, and hope to have more information on this soon.”
