KwaZulu-Natal Inland Cricket Union are excited to announce a partnership with Pietermaritzburg’s property giants, Jooma Properties, to unearth talent in the region.

The local company has acquired the naming rights for the Inland development leagues, and they will now be known as the Jooma Properties League.

Jooma Properties, which has been in the business for at least 28 years, now sponsors the Under 9, 11, 13 and Under 15 leagues. KZN Inland cricket services manager Jason Sathiaseelan said they are thrilled with the partnership.

“We are grateful for this wonderful partnership with Jooma Properties and want to thank Mr Shahin Jooma (founder of the company) and Jooma Properties for their contribution to grassroots cricket at KZN Inland,” Sathiaseelan said.

“The success of club cricket is determined by junior structures, and we have encouraged all clubs to have junior teams. This contribution from Jooma Properties will enhance that project.” Owner of the company, Shahin Jooma, said as people who will love to see more local players being to well-known and respected cricketers in future, it made a lot of sense for them to join hands with the union.

“Young players or the Junior leagues are the future of cricket. For the region to continue producing top cricketers, we need to take care of our pipeline,” Jooma said. “There’s a lot of talent at grassroot level. Yes, some of the youngsters have good opportunities in their schools but it’s not all of them who have those kinds of opportunities.

“KZN Inland is offering these youngsters a chance to showcase their talents, but they also needed some motivation and as Jooma Properties we thought let’s play our part by sponsoring the league.”

The company is no stranger to cricket as they have a team in the Dolphins Premier League, the Jooma Properties Zulu Kings.
