Cricket Boland: THE GbetsRocks and Drakenstein Municipality joined forces to boost tourism

Must Read

THE GbetsRocks, the professional team of Cricket Boland, and Drakenstein Municipality has joined forces to boost tourism in the region.

The partnership was recently announced during the GbetsRocks season launch ceremony at the Laborie Estate, an historic working farm nestled on the foothills of Paarl Mountain.

With the COVID-19 pandemic having negatively impacted the tourism industry and employment opportunities, the #discoverpaarl #discoverwellington campaign comes at an opportune time as the summer season approaches.

James Fortuin, CEO of Cricket Boland said, the agreement will see players of the GbetsRocks visit historic and popular tourist attractions in the region, inviting tourists and locals to visit and explore the splendour of these attractions in towns such as Paarl, Wellington, Saron, Gouda, Hermon and Simondium.

Alderman Conrad Poole, Executive Mayor of Drakenstein Municipality, said the objectives of the campaign include raising the demand for the region as a tourist destination, collaborating with all stakeholders such as Cricket Boland to strengthen and boost the local economy.

“The cornerstone to this bounce-back strategy is collaboration and partnerships. We cannot do this on our own and therefore need partners such as Cricket Boland and its professional team, the GbetsRocks,” said Poole.
