The Queensland Bulls will play four domestic matches at home in the latest round of fixtures announced today by Cricket Australia.

With NSW and Victoria cleared to begin their 2021-22 season, the Bulls will head north to host Tasmania at Townsville’s Riverway Stadium from next Wednesday in a Marsh Sheffield Shield and a Marsh One Day Cup match.

They will then host Western Australia at the Gabba for in a Shield game from November 10 before staging a day/night one day Cup game on 15 November.

Admission for all Shield and One Day matches is free, and all games will be streamed live through cricket.com.au and broadcast on Kayo.

It will be the first Shield match at the North Queensland venue since 2016-17, while the last one-dayer was held there in 2018-19.

Queensland Cricket CEO Terry Svenson said the confirmation of the fixtures today would boost the Bulls.

“The team has played some tough, competitive cricket in Adelaide recently and I’m sure that they will be keen to build on that in front of their home fans in Townsville and at the Gabba,’’ he said.

“We’re confident the local sporting community in Townsville will get behind the matches when we stage two national competition fixtures at Riverway Stadium for the first time in some years.

“Cricket is well underway in the area and it is an excellent chance for us to further connect participations and the grassroots with our State teams.”

“Queensland Cricket’s long-standing position is that it is a priority to take high class games to the regions where possible.

“That aim has been backed by the enthusiastic support of local government and local cricket bodies and we will continue to work towards maintaining those opportunities in the future.”

“It’s also great to see the Bulls returning to the Gabba, especially for a day/night one-day game which is a format that we haven’t held there for several years.”
