The benefits of healthy eating will be celebrated by players and fans during the inaugural Woolworths Pick Fresh, Play Fresh Round, a brand new initiative for Weber WBBL|07.

The round, launched by players from all eight Big Bash clubs, aims to inspire kids and parents to fuel their bodies with more fresh fruit and vegetables, so they feel happier, healthier and have more fun on the field.

The round will take place at Great Barrier Reef Arena, Mackay on November 13 and 14. Each club will be aligned to a nominated fruit or vegetable matching their colours.

As part of the initiative, Woolworths is also donating $500 for every six that is hit across Pick Fresh Play Fresh Round, with the money going to local community clubs nominated by each WBBL team.

Pick Fresh, Play Fresh Round is an extension of Woolworths’ overall commitment to Australian Cricket and the first time that a round of elite sport in Australia has been dedicated to promoting kids’ nutrition and healthy eating.

Woolworths Group Chief Marketing Officer Andrew Hicks, said:

“As Today’s Fresh Food People, we’re committed to improving the health and wellbeing of Australian kids. We recognise the importance of sport in positively shaping kids’ health and we’re proud to introduce Woolworths Pick Fresh Play Fresh Round to help educate young cricket fans and their families about the natural connection between picking fresh and playing fresh.”

Alistair Dobson, Cricket Australia’s General Manager of Big Bash Leagues, said:

“The addition of Woolworths Pick Fresh, Play Fresh Round to the calendar is an exciting first for both the League and Woolworths, a loyal and long-term partner of Australian Cricket.

“We look forward to working closely with Woolworths, our players and clubs to inspire our fans across Australia to make healthy choices this summer.”
