Dear members of the KNCB,

On Monday, November 1, 2021, the board of the KNCB announced during the Teams meeting with the chairmen of the members of the KNCB that Mudi Allah Rakha was prepared to temporarily take on the role of Director of the KNCB as an interim assignment. He would temporarily give up part of his working time for his employer for this purpose; Mudi works full-time for the Nature & Environment Foundation. He would then have resigned from the board.

During the meeting, Mudi did not experience sufficient support for his involvement from the members. It was clear to him that the personal risk of harm did not outweigh his sincere intention to commit to this assignment.

Mudi decided, after careful consideration, the day after the meeting not to accept the assignment and to resume his work within the board.

The board regrets this decision, but can fully understand it.

On behalf of the board of the KNCB,

Robert Vermeulen

Secretary KNCB Board
