The Calgary and District Cricket League is sad to announce the passing of former cricketer and coach Surrendra Bhandari. Surrendra represented both Kenya and Canada in the 1970’s, touring England with the Canadian team where he led the team batting averages. He was a fixture on the city team and enjoyed playing for South Calgary and then later St. John’s Cricket Club. He would return to play first for Titan CC,\on their tours of the UK, and then for Glenmore CC where he would finally retire from the game. Off the pitch, Surrendra was an enthusiastic coach of the Calgary and Alberta junior squads, lending his expertise to bring up a generation of cricketers and administrators that would have impacts on the game at the national level. Surrendra is survived by his loving wife, 3 children, and his numerous grandchildren. His contributions to the game in Canada will long be appreciated.
