Afghanistan Cricket Board today confirmed that the National Team will tour Bangladesh for three ODIs and two T20Is in late February. The ODIs are scheduled to be played on 23rd, 25th, and 28th February while the two T20Is are set to be played on 3rd and 5th March respectively.

The three-match ODI series will be part of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League, and the two T20Is will count towards the ICC Rankings as well as will be part of the preparation process for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 respectively.

The national team will depart to Bangladesh on 12th February and will have a week-long training and conditioning camp in Sylhet before leaving for Chattogram for the three-match ODI series that is scheduled to be played at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram. The National team will then travel to Dhaka for the two T20Is where both teams will face off in Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.

ACB Chairman Mirwais Ashraf said: “We are pleased with the outcomes of our discussions and negotiations with the Bangladesh Cricket Board. Playing Bangladesh in Bangladesh is a heavy task but a challenge that I know our players will embrace”.

Afghanistan has played two series in the Super League against Ireland and the Netherlands and is currently placed fifth, having won all the six matches they have played so far. Afghanistan National team was scheduled to tour Zimbabwe earlier in February, but the tour was postponed due to the lack of broadcasting services including the DRS in the host country.

The ICC Cricket World Cup Super League is a 13-team tournament that will take place across two years and will determine which teams qualify for the CWC 2023. India, who are the hosts in ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, and the other top seven teams from the super league, will qualify automatically for the World Cup.
