CWI: Test Match hero Mayers jumps amazing 33 spots in ICC bowling rankings

Kyle Mayers proved to be the man with the golden arm as we witnessed his heroics with the ball to help West Indies win the third Apex Test against England. The seamer had the remarkable match figures of 27-17-41-7, including career-best 5-18 in the second innings as West Indies won by 10 wickets on the fourth morning.

It was the home team’s first Test match win at the Grenada National Stadium, and they became the first team to lift the newly-minted Richards-Botham trophy. For Mayers it was moment to remember and has seen him make a sensational leap up the ICC Test match rankings. In the latest dispatch on Wednesday, he climbed 33 spots to Number 48 – one of the biggest jumps in recent history.

There was also a big move for West Indies batting hero Joshua Da Silva. The wicket-keeper pulled his side around in the first innings with a monumental maiden Test century. He made 100 not out which occupied 355 minutes and came off 257 balls with 10 boundaries. He earned the Apex Player of the Match award for the match-winning effort which lifted West Indies from 128-7 to 297 all out. He moved up 21 places to Number 63 on the table.
