Nicole Bolton and Hayden Kerr have taken home the Sydney Sixers’ top gongs at the annual Cricket NSW Awards held at The Star in Sydney on Thursday night.

The pair were voted by their teammates as the best players of the season, with Bolton named the WBBL|07 Player of the Tournament and Kerr named the BBL|11 Player of the Tournament.

Bolton joined the Sixers this season after six summers with the Perth Scorchers, recruited by coach Ben Sawyer to help beef up the Sixers’ middle-order and her performances provided exactly that.

The experienced all-rounder hit 247 runs at an average of 30.87 and captured eight wickets. Bolton also snared one of the best catches of the tournament.

Hayden Kerr had a breakout season for the Sixers, finishing as the tournament’s second highest wicket-taker and being named in the star-studded Team of the Tournament.

No doubt the highlight of Kerr’s campaign was his match-winning 98 not out, hitting the winning runs off the final ball of the match to clinch a win for the ages and secure the Sixers a place in the Final.

Fast bowler Maitlan Brown was also amongst the high-profile award winners, claiming the prestigious Belinda Clark Medal, presented to the NSW player awarded the most votes across the WNCL and WBBL tournaments by their peers, coaches and match officials.

Sixers all-rounder Erin Burns took home the WNCL Player of the Tournament for her performances for the NSW Breakers, while Kerr celebrated being named the inaugural recipient of the Michael Bevan One Day Player of the Tournament Medal.
