Tasmanian wicketkeeper-batter Emma Manix-Geeves is the latest player to commit to purple for WBBL|08, returning to the lineup after previously appearing in WBBL|05.

The emerging star has enjoyed a meteoric rise over the past 12 months, receiving multiple domestic and premier league cricket accolades, whilst playing a major role in bringing the first WNCL title to Tasmania.

Nothing short of heroic in the recent WNCL final, Manix-Geeves announced herself on the big stage with a maiden domestic century, scoring 104* to help guide the Tasmanian Tigers to victory.

A calm presence at the top of the order, Manix-Geeves averaged 42.85 in nine appearances at domestic level, earning her the honor of Cricket Tasmania’s Female Young Player of the Year.

In the Cricket Tasmania Premier League, she was awarded the Kim Fazackerley medal (Women’s First Grade Player of the Year) for the second year running, amassing a league best of 682 runs at an average of 68.2, while leading all rivals behind the stumps with 11 catches for the Greater Northern Raiders.

With sharp keeping skills and a recent run of exceptional consistency with the bat in hand, Manix-Geeves will be hoping to build on previous WBBL experience, after making five appearances as a wicket-keeper in WBBL|05.

“It’s been a crazy couple of years, from losing my state contract, to coming back into the Tigers setup and taking that next big step and finishing the season the way I did in the final,” Manix-Geeves said.

“It really gives me confidence that I belong at the top level and that the work behind the scenes is paying off.”

“I’ve had a taste of WBBL action before, and to be back representing Tasmania at this level again is something I’m really excited about, and really proud to be able to do.”

“I can’t wait to get out there and play whatever role I can, and just keep improving and growing as a player in every format.”

Manix-Geeves joins Nicola Carey, Maisy Gibson, Heather Graham, Ruth Johnston, Amy Smith, Molly Strano, Rachel Trenaman and Elyse Villani as players currently contracted for WBBL|08.
