The KFC Big Bash League fixture for the upcoming summer has been revealed, with the Melbourne Renegades set to take centre stage in BBL|12.

Earlier match start times headline a number of changes to this year’s fixture, which combined with minimal overlap with Australian international matches will provide a fan-friendly schedule throughout the tournament.

The Renegades will begin their campaign on the road, against the Brisbane Heat in Cairns on December 15, before playing their first home game against the Sydney Thunder at Marvel Stadium on December 18.

Five home games will be held at Marvel Stadium and two home games have been scheduled at Geelong’s GMHBA Stadium.

That includes a string of four consecutive matches in Victoria after Christmas, between December 28 and January 7.

The two Melbourne Derbies will take place on January 3 (MCG) and January 14 (Marvel Stadium), with the Renegades’ home derby to be played in the prime-time Saturday night time slot.

The Renegades will also host the Perth Scorchers in a marquee New Year’s Day game at Marvel Stadium and feature as part of the Hobart Hurricanes’ Christmas Eve game at Blundstone Arena.

Six weekend matches feature as part of the Renegades’ fixture, alongside a home Friday night game and two Thursday night games.

“Our fixture for the upcoming Big Bash season provides a fantastic outcome for our Renegades members and fans,” Melbourne Renegades General Manager, James Rosengarten, said.

“This is undoubtedly one of the most eagerly anticipated BBL seasons in recent years. We plan to bring our players and fans closer together than ever this year and to provide exceptional experiences at our home matches.

“Our BBL fixture has no shortage of prime-time slots, including our home Derby against the Melbourne Stars on a Saturday night. We’re also excited by the opportunity to host a game on New Year’s Day, in a family-friendly afternoon time slot.

“The addition of the inaugural BBL Overseas Draft will only add to the hype leading into the season. It’s something we’ll be looking to maximise as we continue to build a Renegades team that plays an exciting brand of cricket and is competing for a finals berth.”

Ten of the Renegades’ 14 home-and-away matches will be broadcast on free-to-air TV.

The BBL|12 finals series will begin on Friday 27 January, with The Final to be played on Saturday 4 February.

Tickets to all BBL|12 matches will be available via pre-sale on August 16 and available to the public from August 18.

Melbourne Renegades memberships for BBL|12 and WBBL|08 will go on sale from August 5. To pre-register for details, click here.
