As principal partner of the NSW Breakers, Charter Hall is an integral part of the team behind the on-field achievements of the state’s top women’s cricketers.
Now, this leading property investment and funds management group is actively driving the players’ off-field success via a mentoring program with Charter Hall’s senior executives.
The program will see 11 of the Breakers’ 22/23 season contracted players, paired with a mentor to help prepare them for life after cricket and support the women in other areas of life.
The program kicked-off yesterday with a ‘walk and talk’ around the heritage listed Royal Botanic Gardens on Sydney’s harbour foreshore. Uncle Paul Callaghan, Worimi Elder of the Gamipingal Clan, led the tour, sharing how his people’s rich connection to Country and culture creates a positive impact on leadership and wellbeing.
So instead of partnering with Stella Campbell to open the bowling, Maitlan Brown will be collaborating with Charter Hall’s Industrial & Logistics CEO Richard Stacker.
Or, rather than seeking the guidance of housemates and fellow Breakers Anika Learoyd and Lauren Cheatle, rising star Hannah Darlington will be leaning on Charter Hall’s Office CEO Carmel Hourigan, for advice.
But this unique mentorship is much more than a one-way opportunity – Charter Hall’s mentors are also benefitting from the vast and varied experience of the players.

Cricket NSW’s Player Development Manager, Female Programs, Caitlin Bassett said the experience could be very useful for the players in both the short and long terms.
“Thank you to Charter Hall and their senior executives who are providing an incredible opportunity for the players to network and learn from industry professionals,” Bassett said.
“These connections will be invaluable not only to help guide those who are currently studying but as a foot in the door for when the time comes for them to transition out of cricket.”
Players and their mentors will meet regularly around the team’s playing commitments and those of the executives.
