Adelaide Strikers keeper-bat Tegan McPharlin will remain a Striker this summer, penning a one-year extension ahead of Weber WBBL|08.

One of the competition’s most experienced players, McPharlin’s signing will keep her in blue for an eighth consecutive summer.

A member of the Striker’s inaugural team, and WBBL|03 captain, McPharlin has been a mainstay behind the stumps since the tournament’s inception.

Proving invaluable as ever last summer, McPharlin led all players in dismissals (17), claiming 11 catches and a league-high six stumpings as the Strikers journeyed all the way to the WBBL|08 Grand Final.

In addition to her work with the gloves, McPharlin continued to contribute with bat in hand, averaging 18.50 from four appearances at the crease.

With 93 WBBL matches to her name, McPharlin’s extension paves the way for entry into the 100-game club alongside teammates Bridget Patterson and Amanda-Jade Wellington.

On her decision to remain a Striker this summer, McPharlin said:

“I’m super excited to sign on for this summer. I love playing in Adelaide in front of our fans, and to get that opportunity again this season is amazing.

“The growth of the WBBL in the last couple of years particularly has been huge and the competition is only continuing to get bigger and better.

“Our side showed last summer that we can really challenge at the pointy end of the season – I have no doubt we’ll be hungry to go one better this time around.”

Full of praise for the long-serving keeper, Head Coach Luke Williams said:

“Tegan is one of the most respected and loved players across the competition. She’s as dedicated as they come and brings so much to our group both on and off the field.

“She’s been a consistent performer over a number of years and her work behind the stumps last season was second to none – we are thrilled that she’ll be back in blue this summer.”
