Following the resignation of Michael Smith, KZN Inland Cricket Union have appointed former coach Grant Morgan as the head coach of the Tuskers. The former Dolphins and Scotland assistant coach brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience to help the Tuskers in their quest for promotion to Division 1.

“It is with great excitement that I accept the challenge to return to a very special team and Cricket Union and a passionate cricketing community I have served before”, said Grant Morgan. “I am deeply motivated to continue the great work done by Michael Smith (Coach) and Jason Sathiaseelan (CEO) and staff and move the team toward their goals going forward.”

Morgan added, “I have worked with most of the players at some stage or other somewhere and want them to also reach their individual goals within the team context and enjoy their cricket and time in our special place in Pietermaritzburg. I look forward to working with former and new colleagues on the staff and Board and to build wonderful memories and relationships as that is what life and cricket are all about”.

KZN Inland President Shaun van der Byl said, “we welcome Grant back into the family. Grant’s vast experience together with his relationship with the current players, will allow for a smooth transition. He takes over a squad that has an excellent platform laid by previous coach Michael Smith. I am confident that Grant will excel in his new role at the Tuskers.”

“No stranger to KZN Inland, Grant Morgan will bring the care factor to our organisation. He has won many trophies at KZN Inland and has a proven track record in this regard. Having coached at franchise level, Grant will bring invaluable experience to the Tuskers set up”, said KZN Inland CEO Jason Sathiaseelan.
