@ProteasWomenCSA – A new digital dawn for Women’s Cricket in SA

Must Read

Cricket South Africa (CSA) has launched a new social media page solely dedicated to profiling and showcasing girls and women’s cricket in South Africa ahead of an action-packed domestic and international season that includes the hosting of the ICC U19 Women’s and senior Women’s T20 World Cups in January – February next year.

Follow @ProteasWomenCSA on Instagram and Twitter and be part of the summer of cricket!

The page is geared towards amplifying the growth of women’s cricket in the country, focusing on growing the connection between South Africans, and the girls and women’s game.

The platform will also seek to educate the public about CSA’s pathway to establishing a career out of the game, while reinforcing a woman’s belonging on the cricket field.

The comprehensive coverage will include inspirational, aspirational, and relatable content that speaks to various cricket properties, including but not limited to the Momentum Proteas, SA Emerging and National Academy, and SA U19 Women. This will also branch out to domestic and development cricket, from CSA Women’s Provincial One-Day and T20 competitions all the way to KFC Mini-Cricket.

CSA Chief Executive Officer, Pholetsi Moseki commented:

“This is a watershed moment on our digital platforms for South African women’s cricket and we are extremely excited to see what our creative team has in store for the page.

“Women’s cricket is on an upward trajectory globally and the Momentum Proteas have done an outstanding job in carrying the torch for South Africa over the years.

“Ahead of a unique season where we will be hosting two World Cups, this platform will help us parade talented players for the world to admire, while we tell the incredible stories of the many passionate individuals that form the nucleus of women’s game in our country, on and off the pitch.

CSA’s Chief Marketing Officer, Wanele Mngomezulu said:

“As an organisation, we are very proud to be bringing this long-term vision to life, particularly at the beginning of what is set to be an unforgettable year for women’s cricket in South Africa.

“The game is growing exponentially throughout the country through a number of CSA programmes, beginning at the KFC Mini-Cricket level, to the national school weeks all the way up the development pipeline that flows into the SA U19s and the Momentum Proteas.

“Taking into account the growing popularity of women’s cricket, it demanded its own voice in the convoluted world of social media where we can all witness first-hand, the abundance of talent and the individual expression of the game we all love,” he added.
