The Melbourne Renegades have signed emerging off-spin bowler Corey Rocchiccioli.

Rocchiccioli, 25, joins the Renegades on a one-year deal for BBL|12.

The WA-contracted spinner was part of his state’s Sheffield Shield title last summer.

He has previously been on the Perth Scorchers’ roster, but is yet to make his BBL debut.

“I’m really excited. When the opportunity presented to come to the Renegades, I jumped at it. It’s going to be an awesome experience,” Rocchiccioli said.

“I’ve got a good relationship with Shaun Marsh, having played the last couple of years with him at WA and it will be nice to be in Renegades colours together. I’m also looking forward to learning off guys like Kane Richardson, Nic Maddinson and Aaron Finch, plus the internationals as well.

“I want to keep growing my game and seeing where I can get to. Ifeel like I’m ready to come in and perform a role for the Renegades – whatever ‘Sakes’ asks me to do, I’ll be happy to do.”

Rocchiccioli adds to a spin attack headlined by Draft signings Mujeeb Ur Rahman (Afghanistan) and Akeal Hosein (West Indies), who are currently representing their countries at the T20 World Cup.

The Renegades also recently added leg-spinner Ruwantha Kellapotha – who made his debut for Victoria this week – to their list.

“Corey has shown some promising signs in the early stages of his career with Western Australia and also impressed us with his performances at the Top End T20 tournament in Darwin,” Melbourne Renegades General Manager, James Rosengarten, said.

“We planned to bolster our spin stocks through the overseas draft and Corey now adds to that group. We look forward to seeing what he can to our bowling group this summer.”

The Renegades have two local list spots still to confirm ahead of its BBL campaign, which will begin on December 15 against the Brisbane Heat in Cairns.
