Team Sri Lanka have taken out its third Truck Assist Renegades Champions League title in as many years, defeating Team India by 26 runs in Werribee on Sunday.

Winning the toss and choosing to bat first, it was tough going for Sri Lanka early on, losing Dilan Chandima and Amal Athulathmudali to leave them 2/39 as India put on the pressure.

Opening bat Hashan Wanasekara worked his way to 29 off 24 balls before he fell to Daanish Mehta, which triggered a mini collapse to leave Sri Lanka reeling at 5/89.

However, it would be an 18-ball 34 slammed off the bat of Arosh Janoda that would wrestle the momentum back into Sri Lanka’s favour, helping his side to a competitive 148 off their 20 overs.

Despite India putting on 23 for the opening stand, Sri Lanka bowled superbly to stay on top throughout the innings.

Falling to 7/64, Mehta and Balarammahanti Abhishek put on 53 runs for the eighth wicket to breathe some life into the Indian innings, but it was not enough as they would fall to Sri Lanka by 26 runs.

Janoda finished the game with 2/21 off his four overs to go with his 34-run demolition job to be awarded with the Player of the Match.

Thanks to Truck Assist for their sponsorship of the Renegades Champions League final and across the tournament.
