General Manager Blair Crouch has penned an open letter to Stars members and fans.

Dear Stars Family,

I’d like to start by personally thanking you for your support across BBL|12 and WBBL|08. To see so many members of the Stars family back at the MCG, CitiPower Centre and across the country supporting both of our teams has been amazing and a true testament to the passion of our supporters.

This season, with 12,805 paid up Stars members, we broke not only our own membership record but the all-time BBL membership record. After two years of little access to our teams during the pandemic, this is an outstanding achievement and one that I’m immensely proud of, as you should be.

I also want to recognise the contribution that David Hussey has made to the club as both a foundation player and more recently as a coach. He has left an indelible mark on the Stars and I look forward to seeing him at Stars matches, as a fan, for many years to come. We wish him well in his new role at Cricket Victoria.

We have already commenced our search for a new coach and I look forward to sharing that appointment with you, once it is made. Encouragingly, we already have received a number of high calibre applicants from both Australia and around the world.

Missing the BBL finals again is not acceptable. We have begun and will continue to aggressively review all areas of our on-field performance ahead of BBL|13 and WBBL|09.

This encompasses not only the coaching and playing group but additional support staff and our list management strategy.

We believe we underachieved in BBL|12 with the talent on our playing list.

There will be some personnel changes as we look to get back to where we belong.

We want all of our members and fans to be able to share in our success and it’s my commitment to you that we will work as hard as possible to ensure we achieve that.

Thanks again for your wonderful support this season, it was great to connect with so many of you personally and I look forward to bringing you some exciting announcements in the months to come.

Blair Crouch, Melbourne Stars General Manager
