Cricket Scotland is thrilled to announce that ICC Europe have selected Scotland to host the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup European Qualifier in July.

The tournament consists of seven European teams competing in a round robin format, with the top two countries qualifying for the 2024 finals, to be played in the West Indies and USA.

This will be the first time Scotland have been sole hosts of a men’s ICC World Cup qualifying tournament. Twenty-one matches will take place across nine days in Edinburgh, at The Grange and Goldenacre.

Scotland’s Men qualified for last year’s T20 World Cup finals in Australia and will be confident of reaching the 2024 tournament, helped by the backing of a healthy home support.

Paul Macari, Cricket Scotland Head of Operations & Commercial, said:

“It’s fantastic to have been awarded this qualifying event and will give cricket fans the chance to watch several different European countries in action here in Scotland.

“With July also being a busy time for tourism in Edinburgh, I’m sure this event will attract the attention of many interested international visitors to the city.”

Toby Bailey, Cricket Scotland’s Interim Head of Performance, said:

“This is a crucial qualifying event for us, and we’re delighted to be playing in front of our home fans.

“The standard of cricket across mainland Europe has grown massively in recent years, and we’ll have to be at our best to qualify for 2024.”
