Oman Cricket (OC) has been keen to rope in corporate support for the development of the game in the Sultanate of Oman. The untiring efforts of OC has met with success and the latest partnership agreement between the cricket governing body of Oman and Credit Oman will give further boost to the domestic league.

OC recently unveiled Credit Oman as the sponsors of the C, D and E Division leagues for the 2022-23 season.

Credit Oman is a Muscat-based three-decade old company and over the years has shaped domestic trade and catalyzed exports from Oman to regional and international markets as a leading credit insurer, fully owned by the government.

Welcoming on board Credit Oman, Alkesh Joshi, OC’s treasurer, said: “We are delighted to have Credit Oman join the Oman Cricket family as our title sponsors for the C, D E divisions. These divisions serve as a refinery to produce the talent pool of cricketers in Oman. I am looking forward to the talented players to represent the country. We certainly feel overwhelmed when corporates like Credit Oman come on board to develop the game as part of their Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) programme.”

Duleep Mendis, OC’s chief development officer, said: “I would like to extend my thanks to Credit Oman in supporting domestic cricket in the Sultanate of Oman. This backing will enable us to facilitate and enhance the quality of cricket at grassroots level. We are looking forward to fructify this association in its best way in the coming future.”

Mohammed Hilal al Jabri, Credit Oman director of sales, said: “We are delighted to be associated with the second most popular sport across the globe through Oman Cricket. The partnership serves as our means to contribute towards sports and youth in Oman. We are basically trying to focus at the grassroots level in the domestic cricket. We are grateful to Oman Cricket for giving us an opportunity to be part of cricket fraternity in the Sultanate of Oman. The sponsorship will also allow Credit Oman to extend their CSR programme by investing in sports and youth in Oman.”

The official signing ceremony was held recently at the Oman Cricket Academy with Joshi, representing Oman Cricket, and Jabri, representing Credit Oman, inking the agreement in the presence of Mendis, Vaishali Jesrani, advisor to OC, and other officials.
