Yorkshire batter and the Blaze all-rounder impress during winter internationals.
Harry Brook and Nat Sciver-Brunt have topped the Overall International PCA Most Valuable Player tables for the men’s and women’s winter internationals.
The conclusion of the England Men’s T20I series in Bangladesh saw the end of the international winter programme of fixtures.
Highlights of the winter saw Jos Buttler lead his side to a momentous T20 World Cup title in Australia, meaning the England Men’s white-ball side now hold both World Cup trophies at the same time.
England’s Women, led by PCA Vice Chair Heather Knight, enjoyed a dominant white-ball series in the West Indies, before a promising T20 World Cup campaign eventually saw them beaten in the semi-final.
Overall Men’s Winter International MVP – Harry Brook
An incredible winter from Yorkshire’s Brook sealed the top spot on the Overall MVP table with an astonishing 312 points, a massive 49 points clear of England white-ball skipper Jos Buttler in second place.
The 24-year-old amassed an impressive 1,190 runs for his country across the winter fixtures, with 797 of those coming in Test cricket at an average of 88.6 with an unbelievable strike-rate of 99.7.
The right-handed middle order batter scored four Test hundreds during the winter with a highest score of 186 off 176 balls against New Zealand in the second Test of the series.
The 2021 and 2022 cinch PCA Men’s Young Player of the Year award winner won three Match MVPs, two coming in the Test arena and one in T20Is.
Brook’s first Match MVP of the winter saw him take home 37 points for a brilliant knock of 81 not out from 35 balls against Pakistan in the third T20I.
Arguably his most remarkable performance of the winter arose in the first Test against Pakistan which England won by 74 runs. Brook scored 55 MVP points for a blistering 153 from 116 balls which included 19 fours and five sixes and backed it up in the second innings with 87 from 65.
Unsurprisingly, Brook also finished top of the Winter Test rankings on 197 points, with Joe Root in second place largely thanks to a Match MVP performance worth 70 points in the second Test against New Zealand where the former England skipper scored 153 not out in the first innings and 95 in the second.
Men’s Winter Internationals multi-format statistics:
- Harry Brook – 1,190 runs at 54.1
- Jos Buttler – 888 runs at 52.2 and 25 catches
- Sam Curran – 36 wickets at 21.3
England’s T20 World Cup winning captain, Buttler, came second on the Overall table with 263.4 MVP points.
The England keeper-batter scored 888 runs for his country in white-ball cricket at an average of 52.2 and took 25 catches.
The 32-year-old won four Match MVPs this winter, with two coming in ODIs and two in T20I cricket.
A commanding innings against South Africa in the third ODI, which England won by 59 runs, saw Buttler score 131 off 127 balls with six fours and seven sixes and then take three catches behind the stumps to earn him 28 MVP points.
Another impressive performance from Buttler saw him secure 30 points for 73 off 47 balls against New Zealand at the World Cup.
As well as coming second on the Overall table, the expansive shot-maker was also second in the ODI and T20I MVP rankings.
The ICC Player of the Tournament at the T20 World Cup, Sam Curran, came third on the Overall table with 263.2 points, just 0.2 behind Jos Buttler.
The England all-rounder came top of the rankings in the Winter International T20Is on 195 points with Buttler in second on 175 and Alex Hales in third on 146 MVP points.
The 24-year-old enjoyed a lucrative T20I winter taking 26 wickets at an average of 16.2 alongside 10 catches.
Curran flexed his white-ball muscles with a Match MVP performance worth 22 points when he took career best T20 figures of 5-10 against Afghanistan at the World Cup.
The left-arm seamer then picked up the Match MVP award in the World Cup final taking match winning figures of 3-12 off four overs.
Yorkshire’s Dawid Malan finished top of the Winter International ODI rankings with 95 points and fifth on the Overall table.
In ODI cricket, Malan scored 450 runs at an average of 56.3 which included three hundreds, whilst he added 399 runs at 36.3 in T20Is.
The left-hander won four Match MVPs across T20I and ODI cricket, impressing in both formats.
A dominating innings against Australia in the first ODI saw Malan score 134 off 128 balls with 12 fours and four sixes giving him 29 MVP points.
The 35-year-old also helped England to an ODI series win in Bangladesh with 114 not out off 145 balls as the tourists won by three wickets in a tight opening game.
England’s white-ball skipper was second once again in the ODI rankings on 88 points with opening-batter Jason Roy in third position on 75 MVP points.

Overall Women’s Winter International MVP – Nat Sciver-Brunt
Dominating for England in T20I and ODI cricket, it’s no surprise that Nat Sciver-Brunt topped the Overall Winter Women’s International MVP table on 230 points, an incredible 99 points clear of second place.
The Blaze all-rounder scored an impressive 447 runs at an average of 55.9 and took five wickets across 50 and 20-over cricket during the winter series.
The 30-year-old won an unbelievable six Match MVP awards, with four coming in the shortest form and two in ODIs.
Sciver-Brunt was pivotal in a historic win against Pakistan in the World Cup as England won by a record 114 runs (the biggest margin of victory at a Women’s T20 World Cup), she picked up the Match MVP award for a blistering 81 not out off 40 balls and figures of 1-4, securing 52 MVP points.
In ODI cricket, Sciver-Brunt was crucial to England’s white-wash off the West Indies scoring 90 off 96, followed up by an 85 off 69 and figures of 2-16 to secure another couple of Match MVP awards.
Sciver-Brunt won the T20I Winter MVP with 163 points finishing 64 clear of Sophia Dunkley in second and Danni Wyatt in third.
The accolades just keep coming as Sciver-Brunt also picked up the ODI Winter MVP with 66 points finishing ahead of Amy Jones on 49 in second place.
Women’s Winter Internationals multi-format statistics:
- Nat Sciver-Brunt – 447 runs at 55.9 and five wickets
- Sophie Ecclestone – 20 wickets at 9.4
- Danni Wyatt – 272 runs at 27.2
Finishing second on the Overall table with 131 points and third on the ODI table was Sophie Ecclestone.
The left-arm spinner took 20 wickets for England during the winter across both formats, with 15 wickets at an average of 9.2 in T20I cricket and five wickets at 9.8 in ODIs.
The 23-year-old picked up a Match MVP in the second 20-over fixture against the West Indies with figures of 3-23 in four overs giving her 19 points.
In third position on the Overall table was Danni Wyatt with 128 points, who also picked up third place on the T20I table with 98 points.
The England opening-batter scored 272 runs and an average of 27.2 across T20I and ODI cricket.
The 31-year-old picked up a Match MVP for an impressive 59 not out off 34 balls in the first T20I against the West Indies which England won by eight wickets.
