As Oman Cricket (OC) gears up for more international tournaments ahead with the national men’s team aspiring to make it to the ICC Men’s World Cup later this year in India, there has been a growing collaboration with some of the top sports-related companies.
On Monday, Oman Cricket signed a two-year deal with one of India’s top sportswear companies, Omtex Sports as its official clothing partner.
Omtex Sports is a well-known name in manufacturing sports apparels and is a partner to many professional teams including national cricket associations.
The signing ceremony was held at the Oman Cricket headquarters at Al Amerat in the presence of Paul Sheridan, OC vice-president and Kunal Patel, director, Omtex Sports. Also present on the occasion were OC board member Kiran Ansari, OC treasurer Alkesh Joshi and OC chief development officer, Duleep Mendis.
Speaking after the ceremony, Patel said: “It has been a long journey for Omtex Sports, having begun in 1969. We are the third generation and we strive to deliver our excellence with the best quality and with a vision to satisfy the players who give tireless efforts on the field to grow the game as a whole.
“The association with Oman Cricket is more than just being the official clothing partner as it brings value to us by associating to one of the top associate cricketing nations across the globe.”
He added: “Omtex Sports have been with the sport as one of the marquee apparel brands, training equipment brand and also with Omtex ICWC providing one of the finest infrastructure and facilities open to all. I thank and assure Oman Cricket to take this partnership opportunity a long-way and achieve greater success in the coming future. It was our pleasure being hosted at the state-of-the-art facilities of Oman Cricket.”
In his remarks, Sheridan said “On behalf of H.E. Pankaj Khimji, the Oman Cricket chairman, it’s my pleasure to welcome Omtex Sport to Oman. We welcome you to the Oman Cricket family as the official clothing partner of Oman Cricket. It was absolutely amazing to know the company’s journey and to know that cricket is flowing in the blood as much as it does to the people of Oman following cricket.
“Our team will wear Omtex apparels with pride and will thrive with pride and well-wishes from each and everyone associated with Oman Cricket in all verticals.”
Sheridan added: We are delighted to have inked this partnership at a time when our national team is getting ready to take part in the ACC Premier Cup 2023 in Nepal later this month and the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers in Zimbabwe in June-July 2023. We hope to achieve big things together. I would like to mention Vijay Patel (Kunal Patel’s father) for being the catalyst to this partnership.”
