WBBL|08 Coach, Jonathan Batty has re-signed with the Melbourne Stars for another two seasons.

Fresh off a WPL campaign at the helm of the Delhi Capitals, Batty guided his team to the final of the inaugural tournament, with a team that featured Stars players Meg Lanning, Alice Capsey and Jemi Rodrigues.

Under Jonathan’s leadership the Stars took significant strides in his first season in the WBBL, finishing with 5 wins from 11 matches (with 3 matches lost to rain).

Batty has previously won the first two editions of the Women’s Hundred in England with The Oval Invincibles.

“I’m thrilled to have signed as Melbourne Stars Head Coach for a further two seasons of the WBBL.

“I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with the Stars for WBBL 08, and can’t wait to link up with the team again and build on the progress that we made last season.

“The young squad has huge amounts of talent and potential, which was evident for much of the previous campaign.

“I was also fortunate enough to work with Meg Lanning over the past few weeks at the WPL, and it’s going to be great to see her back in a Stars jersey.”

General Manager Blair Crouch said continuity was of utmost importance for the current playing group.

“This group has seen a lot of change over the last couple of years so to have the bulk of the playing squad back for WBBL|09 and Jonathan to continue his journey with them is fantastic.

“Last year he had an immediate positive impact on the playing group, and many players took significant steps which I hope continue under the tutelage of JB and his coaching staff.”
