The South Australian Cricket Association thanks Jake Weatherald for his contribution to the West End Redbacks over the last eight years, with the opening batter choosing to seek new opportunities within Tasmanian cricket.

Recruited from the Northern Territory, Weatherald debuted for the Redbacks in 2016 and played 60 First-Class matches for the state, making over 3800 runs including nine centuries.

In the shorter format of the game, he played 39 One Day matches for 1383 runs, including four centuries.

SACA General Manager, Cricket, Tim Nielsen said SACA wished Weatherald and his family all the best.

“Jake has been a big contributor to Redbacks cricket for many years and we thank him for all his efforts,” Nielsen said.

“Jake identified a fresh start as an important part of his career moving forward and SACA are supportive of this new, exciting opportunity in front of him.

“The most important thing for Jake is that he is happy, healthy and playing cricket and we hope this new chapter goes well for him.”

The West End Redbacks will finalise their playing list for the 2023/24 season next week.
