Sydney Sixers captain Moises Henriques is set to add another chapter to an already illustrious T20 career, putting pen to paper for a further three years with the club.

The league’s longest serving captain and one of the competition’s foundation players, Henriques will bring up his thirteenth season in magenta and ninth as the side’s full-time skipper this coming summer.

A three-time BBL champion (BBL|01, BBL|09, BBL|10) and the Sixers all-time leading run-scorer, Henriques also boasts 44 international appearances and a slew of domestic titles.

One of the game’s most consistent performers, the 36-year-old currently sits sixth for most runs in the competition with 2646 runs to his name.

Making his Sixers debut in December 2011 in the league’s first ever match, Henriques became the first player to reach the 100-game milestone for the club last summer, now having notched 125 appearances (119 BBL, 6 Champions League Twenty20).

The new deal is also set to see Henriques become the first in the league to notch triple figures as captain, having led the side on 94 occasions to date.

Speaking about the prospect of three more years in magenta, Henriques said:

“To be able to play the whole time with one club and stay at the Sixers [the entire time] and have the opportunity to lead throughout that time is pretty special to be honest.

“As a captain or a leader or senior player, you feel quite responsible for the environment and I’m very proud that we’ve been able to keep the core of our team together for a very long time.

“We’ve won BBL titles and had a lot of successful seasons and played in a lot of finals, but I think the ability to keep a very similar group is something that I am very proud of.

“I’d like to think I’m feeling great about my cricket and there’s many good years to come.”

Having previously played for county sides Glamorgan and Surrey, as well as a host of IPL teams, Henriques will next lead Major League Cricket (MLC) franchise and Cricket NSW partner, Washington Freedom alongside Sixers Head Coach, Greg Shipperd, when the inaugural season begins in July.
