Kabuni has strengthened its ambitions in cricket technology and player development by appointing Shreyas Iyer as a Super Coach, adding one of the sport’s leading active players to a growing roster of cricketing names supporting the platform’s expansion. The move comes at a significant moment for Iyer, who is preparing to lead India on upcoming white-ball assignments while also taking on a role focused on helping identify and develop emerging talent.
The appointment sees Iyer join a Super Coach group that already includes former India Captain Sourav Ganguly, former South Africa Captain AB de Villiers and former Australia all-rounder Shane Watson. Together, they will contribute to Kabuni’s efforts to make advanced coaching tools and performance insights available to a wider pool of aspiring cricketers.
Bringing technology and coaching together
Kabuni’s platform combines artificial intelligence, biomechanics and motion-tracking technology to analyse player performance and deliver personalised feedback. The system is designed to translate player movement and ball-tracking data into practical coaching guidance through visual, video and voice-based tools.
As part of the partnership, Iyer will contribute to mentoring programmes, digital coaching initiatives and talent identification projects aimed at supporting the next generation of players.
Speaking about the role of technology in player development, Super Coach Shreyas Iyer said:
“The depth of talent in Indian cricket is currently unprecedented. What’s missing isn’t ability – it’s access to the kind of feedback that tells you exactly what to work on. The margins between where you are and where you want to be are narrow – and that’s exactly what Kabuni is about. Giving young players the tools to close that gap faster than I could in my early years.”
Youth tournament targets next generation
Kabuni’s grassroots strategy will also include a new nationwide initiative called “Want to Play for a Legend?”, offering young cricketers aged 12 to 16 an opportunity to showcase their skills through the platform’s assessment framework.
Participants will be evaluated using Kabuni’s technology-driven performance tools, with standout prospects earning pathways linked to teams associated with some of the game’s biggest names. The programme is intended to combine talent discovery with objective performance analysis, creating additional opportunities for promising players to gain recognition.
The initiative reflects the company’s broader objective of widening access to player development resources and creating clearer routes from grassroots cricket towards higher levels of the game.
Building a global cricket development ecosystem
Kabuni has positioned itself at the intersection of sports technology and athlete development, using data-driven insights to help players make incremental improvements over time. The company believes that combining elite cricket expertise with accessible technology can help bridge the gap between grassroots participation and professional performance.
Welcoming Iyer to the platform, Founder & Chief Executive Officer Nimesh Patel said:
“Shreyas Iyer represents the modern cricketer – explosive, energetic, and always looking to move the game forward. Just as importantly, his mentality reflects Kabuni’s wider vision: a platform built to develop complete cricketers, blending technical progression with mental strength to help players perform with conviction, intelligence, and self-belief.”
The addition of India’s new T20I Captain further strengthens Kabuni’s push to build a globally relevant cricket training platform, combining modern technology with world-class expertise to support players at every stage of their development journey.
