The Bangladesh wheelchair cricket team is preparing to represent the nation on the global stage at the upcoming Wheelchair Cricket World Cup — but their participation now hinges on urgent financial support.
Marking a major milestone, the team has officially accepted an invitation to compete in the World Cup, igniting hope and pride for adaptive sports in the country.
“Bangladesh wheelchair cricket team has accepted this prestigious invitation and has begun preparation to participate in the World Cup. This is a proud moment for Bangladesh and the start of a new chapter in the history of wheelchair cricket,” said team captain Mohammad Mohsin.
However, despite their historic qualification, the team currently faces a critical funding crisis.
“Till now, we don’t have any sponsor or financial partner to help us take part in the World Cup. We request the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the BCB to support us and help us avail the opportunity to represent the country in the international arena,” Mohsin appealed.
With the tournament drawing closer, the wheelchair cricket squad continues training with limited resources, determined to make their debut. Their plea underscores the broader need for institutional and corporate backing for para-athletes in Bangladesh.
The call for support is not just about a single tournament — it’s about national pride, inclusion, and opening doors for a new generation of athletes in adaptive sports.
