Some of Australia’s most talented young cricketers will gather in Albury, New South Wales this week for the Cricket Australia Under 19 Male National Championships.

The National Championships begin on Thursday, November 30 and culminates with the final on Thursday, 7 December.

The Championships provide players with the opportunity to represent their states and territories while testing their skills against fellow up-and-coming players.

This week is also the last opportunity for players to put their name forward for the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup in January/February, with the squad to be named at the conclusion of the National Championships.

For the first time the winning state will be presented with the Rodney Marsh Shield, which has been renamed to honour the late Australian wicketkeeper.

Marsh had a substantial impact on the development of Australian cricketers as the inaugural coach and later director of the Australian Cricket Academy, CA’s manager of Elite Coaching Development and Australia’s Chairman of Selectors.

All matches will be live streamed through FrogBox and can be accessed through the PlayCricket app (under the Cricket Australia State Competition) or through the Cricket Australia YouTube channel.

All fixtures and ladders can be accessed online here or through the PlayCricket app.

Full squads and further information can be viewed here.

To arrange interviews with any players during the National Championships, contact Nigel Hunt on 0405 462 753 or nigel.hunt@cricket.com.au.

Sonya Thompson, Cricket Australia Head of National Development said:

“Cricket Australia’s underage National Championships are an integral part of the Australian Cricket pathway and provide important development opportunities for our emerging stars. This is the first of our four underage national championship carnivals this summer, before we head to the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup in January.

“We saw some fantastic performances throughout the Men’s U19 tour of England during the winter and these National Championships provide further opportunities for players to put their hands up for selection at the World Cup.

“A lot of work has gone on behind the scenes to enable our most talented young players to perform and we thank the State and Territory Associations for their support and collaboration. We also thank Woolworths for their ongoing support of our male elite pathway programs.”
