About the job

We are looking for an experienced Communications Manager who can hit the ground running. We are looking for someone who has corporate comms experience and is proactive in finding opportunities to protect and enhance the ECB’s reputation and promote cricket to new and existing audiences across owned, earned and influencer channels, while also handling issues and crises when they arise.

You’ll work across a range of areas to help demonstrate what the ECB is doing to improve lives and make cricket a game for everyone, bringing to life the ECB’s role in growing cricket from the grassroots to the domestic game and England teams, and being a key part of the media team delivering the first year of The Hundred, a new competition launching this July to welcome in a broader audience to the game.

YOU’LL BE DOING

Proactive and reactive comms activity including:

  • Strategic story planning and delivery to meet ECB objectives, working across earned, owned and influencer channels.
  • Proactively communicating work the ECB is doing to make cricket more inclusive and diverse.
  • Showcasing how the ECB is delivering its Inspiring Generations strategy including explaining The Hundred’s role in opening cricket up to a broader audience before and during the competition.
  • Handling media issues or crises.
  • Producing engaging content.
  • Developing corporate messaging.
  • Maximising use of owned channels to tell the ECB’s story.
  • Executive profiling and thought leadership opportunities for ECB spokespeople.

YOU’LL HAVE

  • Experience in a busy press office or media environment at a senior level.
  • Corporate comms experience. Consumer PR experience also an advantage.
  • Full of creative ideas.
  • Able to write concise, engaging stories and articles in different styles.
  • Devised and delivered successful media strategies for impactful campaigns.
  • Self-starter, able to manage competing priorities in a busy organisation.
  • Can quickly win trust of senior stakeholders internally and externally.
