PURPOSE

The successful candidates for these roles will advise on, prepare and present cases involving alleged breaches of the ECB’s Regulations. The cases involve parties subject to the ECB’s jurisdiction, including professional players and cricket teams, and vary in subject matter, including both on-field and off-field conduct.

YOU’LL LOVE THIS JOB IF

  • You have an interest in sport and are keen to work for a national governing body of a major sport.
  • You want to use your legal advocacy experience in a sports setting.

YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Assisting with investigations relating to alleged breaches of ECB Regulations, including the gathering of evidence.
  • Providing excellent legal advice to the ECB in relation to disciplinary cases, including formulating charges, and wider regulatory and disciplinary issues.
  • Preparing and presenting cases to the ECB’s independent disciplinary panel.
  • Advising where required on other regulatory matters.
  • Working with external counsel where appropriate.

YOU’LL HAVE

  • Experience working as a qualified barrister or litigation solicitor (and the authorisation to work in England and Wales, including the conduct of litigation).
  • Considerable advocacy experience gained in an adversarial setting.
  • Experience of providing advice on investigations, including the strength of evidence.
  • Experience of managing contentious cases.
  • Experience working with regulations and in regulated environments.
  • The ability to provide robust legal advice in a practical manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and be a team player.
  • The ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience of sports law/regulation or professional discipline (desirable).
