Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is the governing body for cricket in Sri Lanka. Originally registered as the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka on June 30, 1975, it was renamed Sri Lanka Cricket in 2003.

Starting from this year, 08 Emerging Cricketers of Sri Lanka will get an opportunity to play Club Cricket in Australia, following an MOU, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) entered into with Dandenong District Cricket Association Inc. (DDCA) of Australia.

Under the MOU, DDCA will facilitate SLC to field a selected group of Sri Lankan Emerging Cricketers in the Australian Cricket Clubs, during a full cricket season, which spans from October to March, every year.

According to the MOU, DDCA will find Clubs for the Lankan players, whilst the host club will provide the player with club membership, accommodation, club apparel, transportation to attend training and matches and also a weekly incidental allowance.

The MOU between the two parties is also aimed at helping the players to experience other cultures and environments and also personal development and life skills. Whilst the move is expected to foster long term relationship between Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and Dandenong District Cricket Association Inc. ( DDCA).

The MOU was entered into recently in Australia, with Mr. Mohan De Silva, Honorary Secretary of the SLC and Mr. Michael Hawking, President of the DDCA signing on behalf of the respective entities.

This is an excellent opportunity for Sri Lanka Cricket, as this gives us an another platform to provide opportunities for our talented youngsters and build them in different conditions to feed our national set up,’ said Mr. Mohan De Silva, Honorary Secretary of the SLC, who worked on realizing the MOU.

The MOU, which is effective until the year 2022 will also see DDCA bringing in an U19 representative team to Sri Lanka commencing mid-2021, where SLC will provide first class grounds, high performance training sessions and specialist coaches to the visiting team.
