Bio

Raees Ahmadzai is an Afghan former international cricketer who currently serves numeral roles for the Afghanistan Cricket Board, including Chief Selector, Director of Cricket (since August 2020), and a coach. Ahmadzai has an extensive history with Afghanistan Cricket, having worked there for 19 years. Along with this, he serves as National Goodwill Ambassador at UNICEF. He is also a Representative of Afghanaid.

Previously, Ahmadzai represented the Afghanistan National Cricket Team from his debut in 2002 until his retirement in May 2010. Ahmadzai made his full Twenty20 International debut against Ireland in the 2010 Quadrangular Twenty20 Series in Sri Lanka. 

After retiring, Ahmadzai became Head Coach of Afghanistan’s National Team in 2017, followed by the under-19 team in 2020.
